PASSENGER TRANSPORT / CROSS-BORDER TRAVEL ALL INDUSTRIES ↗
ADD eSIM / FERRIES

THE CROSSING ENDS.THE JOURNEY GOES ON.

Ferry companies, passenger operators and ticketing platforms can offer destination connectivity before travelers disembark. Turn an existing ticket relationship into a useful arrival service.

THE DISTRIBUTION MOMENT A connection to the next part of the trip.
01

An optional travel ancillary

02

A timely pre-arrival service

03

A better-connected onward journey

01 / THE OPPORTUNITY

CONNECT THE DESTINATION, NOT THE DECK.

Passengers may need maps, transfers, messaging and onward travel information at the port of arrival. That makes pre-departure or ticket-confirmation distribution more relevant than asking passengers to purchase at the gangway.

01BOOKING CONFIRMATION

With the ticket

Offer coverage relevant to the destination and onward itinerary.

02PRE-TRAVEL EMAIL / APP

Before departure

Share activation guidance while passengers still have reliable internet access.

03LOYALTY / COMMUTER BENEFITS

For frequent passengers

Explore repeat-travel allowances or targeted passenger benefits.

02 / BUSINESS MODELS

SELL. INCLUDE. REWARD.

Use the model that fits your customer journey. The connectivity sits inside a service you already own.

Sell

Passengers purchase destination connectivity through the operator’s owned channel.

Include

Bundle an allowance with a premium crossing or international travel package.

Reward

Provide selected frequent travelers with starter data or a promotional benefit.

03 / HOW IT FITS

Before boarding to after arrival

Start with one clear customer touchpoint. Keep the operating model simple.

  1. 01

The passenger receives a booking confirmation for an international crossing.

  2. 02

A destination data offer appears in the normal pre-travel communication.

  3. 03

The passenger uses the eSIM upon connecting to supported mobile networks at the destination.

IMPORTANT / PRACTICAL FIT

Coverage on water is different

Travel eSIM coverage is generally based on terrestrial mobile networks and may be unavailable or inconsistent at sea. Maritime connectivity, onboard Wi-Fi and satellite services are separate solutions. Any passenger offer must state clearly where coverage is expected.

04 / QUESTIONS

THE QUESTIONS THAT MATTER.

Will a travel eSIM work throughout the ferry crossing?

Not necessarily. It may lose signal away from land. The offer should focus on destination connectivity unless suitable maritime service is explicitly included.

Can ferry operators offer multi-country plans?

Potentially, where the supplier’s regional products cover the actual route and destination networks.

Can distribution happen through ticketing partners?

Yes, subject to integration and commercial terms. A tracked post-booking offer may be a practical first pilot.

Can a ferry bundle connectivity into tickets?

Yes, where eligible prepaid products, activation timing and per-passenger delivery can be operationalized.
